Classification
Exploratory: Parkinson's Disease (PD)
Short Description of Instrument
Overview: Brief description of cognitive domains tested: There are 4 tests: One-Back (attention and working memory), One Card Learning (visual learning and memory), Identification (visual attention) and Detection (processing speed).

Alternate versions? Yes.

Available in non-English languages? Yes, but battery uses deck of cards and black/red colors primarily, so verbal component minimal.

Average time for completion 10-15 minutes.
Comments/Special Instructions
Minimal dependence on instructions (task stimuli and response requirements are trained dynamically), dynamic introduction of task rules (once individual demonstrates understanding of requirements then rules for task performance are introduced, again dynamically, and increase task difficulty (once simple tasks have been acquired and performed. Introduce the more complex rules for memory and working memory tasks). Test can be set to repeat upon poor performance.  Cogstate tests were designed to be free of practice effects, although improvement in scores with repeated administration has been observed on both PD patients and healthy controls (Cholerton, et al., 2019).
Scoring and Psychometric Properties
Scoring: N/A

Psychometric Properties: In an analysis of data from the Brain Health Registry, PD patients scored significantly lower than non-PD patients on all four cognitive tests (Cholerton, et al., 2019).
Rationale/Justification
Strengths: N/A

Weaknesses: Minimal use in Parkinson's disease to date.
